Mapping |

Most of the mapping that I have done has been for clients or employers and not for the public. There are a couple of exceptions listed below including the 2006 Canoe Journey map published in a guide and book, and a poster for the MS program. Other examples were for fun or interest. I have produced 100's of maps but most have been of a technical nature for internal purposes containing applicable restrictions on use. These include formal map series and themes like wetlands, land ownership, and utilities.
US Automobile Makers Dec. 2008 Bailout Vote
This map was created to examine votes of Senators, their home locations and explores locations of foreign automakers receiving subsidies by date within this context.
The 2006 Canoe Journey map is published within ESRI's Tribal GIS Map book and in the 2006 Canoe Journey Guide. Within ESRI's book the map is listed as authored by Walter Pacheco, however I was the cartographer. My initials with "Muckleshoot GIS" are on the lower, right, bottom of the map. Walter lead's the Muckleshoot Canoe Family and was responsible for organizing the event and routes. We worked closely together to create this map. A Muckleshoot artist created the logo.
The map
is only part of the story... A CD was created with fully described datasets that included First Nation's data obtained with help of the British Columbia Provincial Government. This is the only dataset of its kind and was used for the Lummi 2007 Canoe Journey map. Van Gogh Coffee Shop
(Vicinity Map) The
Van Gogh Coffee Shop is a very popular local cafe in Wedgwood just a couple
of miles North of the University of Washington in Seattle. The baristas are nice and the atmosphere is
pleasant. They have rice milk, which
is my favorite. http://www.vangoghcoffeehouse.com.
This map was created as a project for a workshop in projections at the University of Redlands. There has been some discussion with regard to the creation of "one zone" for the State. This was investigated within the context of a new coordinate system - the Washington Tim Grid.
One of
the requirements for the MS GIS Program at the University of Redlands is a
poster that explains your project. In many cases, the poster can take
the form of a map. In my case, the product was a geodatabase which
doesn't lend itself easily to a proper map. However, this poster was
accepted.
Muckleshoot Topographic Map Index (Available to Public)
Aboriginal Mapping Network (link) - references and examples from my work with Muckleshoot to include the index map for the Topographic Map Series. The Muckleshoot topographic map series is produced at two scales: 1:1200 and 1:2400, the 100 and 200 series respectively. Their appearance is similar to USGS quadrangles but also display a parcel line layer (best available at the time of compilation) at scales corresponding to County assessor's maps. (use the link to see an enlargement of the series index map) The maps are located at the Muckleshoot Tribe in Auburn, Wa.
